Thanks again for coming back to my Blog.
Today I am going to write about the work from home benefits of starting an online business.
Many people think about starting an online business, but that is about as far as it goes in most cases. It seems like a great idea at the time, but most people think it is a free ride, which of course it isn’t.
I think everyone should at least look at the opportunity to work from home. It can be VERY rewarding, and it has a LOT of benefits.
It does take some work to get started, but it is well worth it in the long run.
So, What are the Work From Home Benefits?
Well, I think the most obvious benefit is that you work from home, and not from an office or another premises. This alone is a great benefit as you no longer have to commute in the peak hour traffic. Just imagine all the fuel you will save, and not to mention the wear and tear of your car! This alone is one of the driving forces to why I love to work from home and not from an office 20kms away.
Another work from home benefit is you get to spend more quality time with the family. If you have kids like I do, you can take them to school, watch them on sports day, go on excursions with them and basically be there for them. This is my main motivator in wanting to work from home.

Nothing would be worse than looking back in 20 years and realizing that I never watched my kids play soccer, never went to a sports day, and didn’t actively get involved with my kids as they grew up.
So, does this make you want to work from home yet?
How about the fact that you can get up at whatever time you want. No more alarm clock! Throw it in the bin (Only joking), but maybe you can?? What I am trying to say is that you can start work at a time convenient to you, and not when an employer wants you there.
How about holidays? I don’t know about you, but I like to go on holidays when I want to and not when someone tells me I can have time off. Having said this, most employers will give you 4 weeks of per year, but if you work from home, you can have holidays whenever you want to!
Do you have a lap top? You can take this with you whilst you holiday around the world and still make money. If this doesn’t make you want to work from home, maybe nothing will 
Another great benefit to working from home is the tax benefits. I won’t go into it here, but there is a lot you can claim back just from being able to work from home. I suggest you talk to your accountant about this, but the benefits are excellent.
So, do you want to work from home now, or would you prefer to take that 30 minute drive to the job you don’t really like???
How about this…. When you start an online business and work from home, your income is up to you. The SKY IS THE LIMIT!!!! 
The more effort you put into it, the more you will earn. What sounds better, working for 40 hrs per week to bring home $2500 per month, or working 6 hrs per week to make $10,000 per month, OR MORE!!!!!?????
This is VERY possible with the right business if you really want to work from home.
Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t always easy, but isn’t it worth a try? What have you got to lose?
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that you can start an online business and work from home part time in the beginning, and when it is up and running, you can then leave your day job if you wish. This is a great goal, and very achievable.
I could go on and on…….
There are so many more benefits to being able to work from home with the right online business. I would need another 3 or 4 pages of text to get them all listed, but I am sure you get the idea.

Great post. There are so many advantages to working from home and I think you have covered them all really well in this post. However I think that for some people they will never work from home and just don’t see all the benefits it will bring. Thanks for sharing.

I love that fact that you show working from home allows you to have a more flexible schedule. Sometimes when you need personal appointments for yourself on a job (dentist, whatever) you may not always be able to get off. Nice job on this post, Michael.

One of the things I love about working from home myself is the ability to take the work with you whenever you travel. In fact, I converted my site from a “static” site to a blog (fairly easy for me to do since I was already using WordPress) while I was on vacation last year. I made sure that I had two or posts ready to go before I left so that all I had to do was to plug them in when the time came. But I could just as easily written those posts in the “down time” when we weren’t doing anything together as a family.
I love the flexibility of being able to stay home to watch my toddler, though it can be challenging at times to get some work done. (Even as I’m writing this response, my toddler asked me for some help with something.) With daycare costing a fortune, having my own business wire work from home gives me an opportunity to earn money and save money at the same time!

Good post and you listed a lot of benefits for working from home. Find a profitable business model. I like to use the affiliate marketing business model as my primary source of income.
If your just starting out like you said work on your online business until you are making enough money to quit your day job or even do both that would be totally up to you.

Hi Michael, you nailed it, there are many benefits to owning your own business. The writeoffs are good. I heard that next year however, writing off the ‘home office’ may become more difficult and the IRS will be a little tougher on this type of deduction – In America at least. Obviously, that wouldn’t apply to other countries.
I 100% agree on avoiding the morning commute, not only do you save the auto expenses, but you save an arguably more valuable asset – your time! A business owner will understand what that means for sure!

I’ve never felt comfortable having a boss who would tell me what to do. One of the main reason I started a home based business was “ownership”.
I do every single thing the way I want it. I’m the boss and I’m responsible for everything that happens in my business. Some say pride is weakness but I’m proud of what I do and I love constantly challenging myself; doing things that I’ve never dreamed of doing.
OF course there are other reasons, just as you mentioned in your post, but for me that was the ultimate push.

There are definitely many advantages of working from home. You only need to learn how to organize yourself. Getting up whenever you want might seem attractive but it is actually better if you always get up at the same time each day and have fixed working hours. You need to be able to draw the line between work time and free time with the family. Otherwise you will be working when you should actually be spending time with your family or enjoying your free time. It is important to draw the line. I have 3 years of experience working from home as an online English and German tutor and translator and I have noticed that a lot of self-discipline is required. There is no boss that is telling you what to do because you are your own boss. And if you are not strict with yourself, you cannot organize yourself properly and will not have the success you wished for.
