SEO Tips for Your Marketing Blog
SEO Tips for Your Marketing Blog
Hello all,
Today I would like to introduce my new Guest Blogger Brianne Walter.
Brianne Walter is going to share a heap of SEO tips for your Marketing Blog.
A marketing blog is meant to promote products and services of an organization. In order to get the message across to your target market segment through your blog, it is important that your blog is able to attract a large number of visitors. This is where search engine optimization comes into play.
People search for information over the web by using specific keywords. If you optimize the content of your marketing blog using these keywords, your blog will automatically rank high in the search result pages for those keywords. It is not a herculean task.
The following steps will direct your efforts to get the desired results.
1. Choose an appropriate domain name for the marketing blog
Be clear on the keywords that you want your blog to do well on. Make the primary keyword a part of the domain name. This works as the perfect description for the blog because the URL itself becomes self explanatory. As the page is indexed by the search engines, having the keyword in the domain name works well in making it rank higher in search results.
2. Make content optimization a priority
In accordance to the services you deal in, select the keywords that are your priority for the time being. Use these appropriately in the content of the marketing blog. Make sure that the primary keyword is a part of the first as well as the last line.
Maintain an appropriate keyword density throughout the blog. Make sure that you do not compromise on content quality in an attempt to use suitable keywords. Never forget that content quality is of utmost significance for consumers that are directed to your blog.
3. Give appropriate title to each post
The title describes a post in search engine results. This is significant as people choose to visit a page only if they find it relevant in the context of the information they are looking for. A suitable title does the trick. It gets your blog the hits that you seek in order to market your products.
4. Employ link building methodology
There are several ways to go about it. Link exchange is one alternative. Another option is to place content relating to the blog on article bases or bookmarking sites. The links to the blog posts serve as another means of increasing the number of hits your marketing blog gets.
5. Do not ignore the significance of regular updates
This is an essential. The strategy works along multiple lines. It is important to update the content anyways to give potential customers information on the latest services on offer.
In addition, as you update the blog regularly with content optimized in relation to specific keywords, the blog gets a high rank for search against these keywords.
This increases the chances of your blog getting a large number of hits.
Thousands of web pages compete for the attention of readers for a given set of keywords. It is for you to make an effort to make your marketing blog stand out.
Search engine optimization offers you that opportunity. You do not need a huge marketing spend to market your blog. All it asks for is attention to detail. Pay heed to this to maximize the number of hits for your blog which in turn gives your products the visibility the blog is meant to provide.

SEO really isn’t all that hard. I think the most time consuming ( and most important) part of this is proper keyword research.
If you choose the right keyword, optimize your blog posts for that keyword and build a few backlinks you’re guna do ok.

I have to agree with the regular updates part. Bloggers really have to take note of that, especially if they’re the type who wants people to keep coming back to his or her blog for more. About that part about the titles: I know it’s good if you have some sort of a creative title in your mind that can really attract people, but if it’s way too far from the content, better change it because people are going to turn away from it. If it’s about how a company would resell SEO services, keep it at that. Make it sound interesting, but not way off-course.
Hi Gerald,
Yes it is very important to keep up with regular updates.
Thanks again for popping in.
Hi Brianne and Michael – I particularly like the concept of not needing a large spend to reach people. Some very popular sites were started by people who did not have a lot to spend on marketing. It is nice to know that you can draw people through the power of your content and perhaps the relationships that you build along the way.

I use a plugin called All in One SEO to help my pages get noticed by search engines. I didn’t pay much attention to SEO when I first started my blog, like not creating SEO titles and using targeted keywords.
I went back through all of my older posts and updated them with SEO keywords and changed the title using the All in one plugin.
My search traffic has definitely increased.

Hi again Michael.
I really like what I see here. My trainer left and went to work for Google training their people many years ago. People seem to think what I do is magic, but I am sure you know it is simple common sense.
My own company is launching this weekend but is there any chance down the road of joining or starting a group on Facebook that has to do with SEO Only?
I am thinking in a few more weeks my time may be freed up and I would love to share my *magic* and learn from others.

A mistake I made when I first started blogging was having good on-page SEO but really no link building strategy to go with it, man did I learn my lesson, great post!
Hi Tyronne,
Link building is very important.
Once I got this right, I started seeing a lot of my posts on page one of Google.

Hello Michael,
Excellent tips.
However I sometimes find myself just typing (ok, just rumbling) whatever I want to talk about without wanting to implement any SEO in the content. Sometimes I just want to let it out without having to put any boundaries (using any SEO structure) around my post.
I don’t even care whether somebody reads that particular post or not.
Does anybody here have that “rush of thought” kind of a thing?
best
great share btw
Akos
Hi Akos,
Yes I think this is a good idea to do as well.
Sometimes you just have to write from the heart, and not worry about all the SEO stuff.
